How to prevent your number from being ‘spoofed’ by scammers

Scam callers have been hitting Tennessee citizens hard with spoofing, and have pushed Tennessee’s Governor, Bill Haslam, to sign a new law that charges phone scammers and fines them if they use a misleading or false phone number to make a scam call. Luckily, for Tennessee residents, the law takes effect on July 1 and scammers could face a misdemeanor charge and fines up to $10,000.

Unfortunately, before the law could take place, Knoxville resident Sara Reed, became a victim of a phone scammer. Click on the video below to learn how she now uses the Hiya app to help her from becoming a scammer’s next victim:
