Voices of Hiya | Lilla Szabó

This year, we launched Voices of Hiya, a new monthly blog series where we spotlight one outstanding Hiyan to share more about our team and what it’s like to work at Hiya. Every aspect of our employees, both inside and outside of work, makes our team special.

This month, we’re featuring Lilla Szabó, human resources partner at Hiya. Lilla is based in Budapest, Hungary. Read on to discover her impact at Hiya and what makes her a vital community member.

Why were you interested in working at Hiya?

I wanted to work in an international environment where I could apply my skills, and when I applied for the job as an Office Manager, I felt that the job description was written for me — I was excited to join Hiya.

What is your role at Hiya?

I am an HR Business Partner supporting the Engineering teams in Budapest and the U.S. I provide support in all areas of human resources operations to all levels of employees and help manage the full employee lifecycle. I handle employee-related questions and partner with managers on performance management, compensation, career paths, recruitment, and process improvement. I am also responsible for year-end salary planning and co-working with our global HR and recruiting teams.

What do you enjoy most about working at Hiya?

My job is quite diversified, and I have the opportunity to grow. I’ve been with Hiya since 2017, and the company has always allowed me to grow so I could expand my skills in different areas of the business.

What are the qualities of a perfect teammate?

A combination of being task-oriented, a problem-solver, an expert communicator,  and great interpersonal skills.

Can you share a memorable moment or project you worked on?

I’ve been with Hiya for over six years and have seen the company grow globally. One of the most memorable moments from my time with Hiya was when I began working more closely with the engineering team in Seattle. In my early days at the company, I was an office manager, then moved to recruiting and began working more broadly with the human resources team. It was a highlight to be able to be a core part of the global expansion.

How has working at Hiya helped you grow?

Hiya gave me the opportunity to explore and challenge myself in different roles during my career.
