This year, we launched Voices of Hiya, a new monthly blog series where we spotlight one outstanding Hiyan to share more about our team and what it’s like to work at Hiya. Every aspect of our employees, both inside and outside of work, makes our team special.
In our last edition for this year, we’re featuring Jozsef Meszaros, engineering manager of Hiya Protect at Hiya. Jozsef is based in Budapest, Hungary. Read on to discover his impact at Hiya and what makes him a vital community member.
I have always worked at innovative companies close to machine learning and modern technologies, and Hiya was a great fit from that perspective. At my previous company, we created a fraud detection solution in the advertisement space, and Hiya was a logical next step for me. In addition, protecting people from the bad guys is a great mission that was an extra motivation to join the team.
As an engineering manager, I am trying to straddle the worlds of both software engineering and management.
People management has always been challenging for me, but you can witness the positive evolution of your team members.
Demonstration of Hiya core values: serve, own it, lead, do, and improve.
I worked on a competitive analysis project that was memorable and challenging due to the tight schedule we were adhering to. In the project's final phase, to make the finishing touches, I remember working on my laptop in our car on the way from Hungary to Italy.
The first few months helped me realize how much more I could learn about functional programming. Later, I learned a lot about management.
Rock climbing in the Alps or caving somewhere in Europe, really far from civilization.

Any hamburger or junk food after a strenuous outdoor activity.
I live in a small town near Budapest.
It would be great to convert politicians to people I can admire. Joking aside, having a teleportation superpower would be great.
Great question. Maybe the mountain ranges in Nepal or Pakistan, or some exotic country with beautiful karst areas, like Vietnam or China.
We have a mission to modernize voice with trust, identity, and intelligence, and we protect millions of people every day!
No risk, no fun!
Stay tuned for next month’s Voices of Hiya, where we highlight another team member who makes up our wonderful organization.
