Who can forget the [bright red phone](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/289919294738518082/) that connected Commissioner Gordon to the masked superhero in the 1960s Batman TV Series. As unforgettable as that phone was, it actually inspired the term “bat phone” which refers to a private telephone line that deals specifically with urgent, high-priority calls.     2. **The Jetsons** Before FaceTime, there was the Jetsons’ video phone! An anomaly that was thought only possible through animation; throughout The Jetsons series [a variation of the video phone](http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/future-calling-videophones-in-the-world-of-the-jetsons-6789346/?no-ist) can be found. Wouldn’t surprise us if it was the inspiration of what we now have right at our fingertips.       3. **Get Smart** “This is a man carefully trained never to disclose the fact that he’s a secret agent”…but his shoe phone sure didn’t get the memo. Maxwell Smart, Agent 86, was ahead of his time. Back then, mobile phones were unimaginable, so to have a phone in your shoe, that was just impossible, and to take it up a notch, he even had “shoe waiting.”       4. **Inspector Gadget** We all know Inspector Gadget had all the great “gadgets” hence his name… but his niece Penny definitely one-upped him with her video-phone watch to contact Brain and help get her Uncle out of some sticky situations.   5. **Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure** Before there was the wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”, and after the Delorean turned back time in Back to the Future, there was the cramped phone booth that could travel in time in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.   6\.**Saved By The Bell** “When you wake up in the morning and the ‘larm gives out a warning…” these days we assume it’s our smartphones we need to put on snooze. But in the days of Bayside High School, Zach Morris would never have fathomed his brick of a phone getting him to class on time, unless it was Screech on the other line.   7. **Clarissa Explains It All** Clarissa Darling from Nickelodeon’s Clarissa Explains It All, definitely knew a thing or two about being an individual. From her mismatched clothes, pet alligator, and [transparent phone](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/187743878189527992/), she was the epitome of unique.       8. **The Matrix** If only we had phones like the Nokia 8110 featured in the Matrix that Neo accidentally drops how many stories up off a sky scraper, but to our surprise survives a crazy fall. Unfortunately, years after the Matrix, phones just aren’t as durable as we’d like them to be.   9. **Zoolander** Earth to Derek Zoolander…your tiny phone isn’t as hip as you think! Amongst the tablets, iPads, notebooks, and growing sizes of screens on our smartphones today, Derek Zoolander better make an upgrade.   10. **Sponge Bob Square Pants** If Sponge Bob lives in a pineapple under the sea, what type of phone does he use? A Shell-Phone!   11. **Juno** We all know the basis of this movie, teen girl gets pregnant, followed by the trials and tribulations that come with it before she pops. Well, did you know her infamous hamburger phone was actually used as promotional leverage for the movie? A number of hamburger phones were sent to critics and the media and after the film was released, sales in the quirky phone jumped to an all time high!   12. **Iron Man 2** With the amount of money Tony Starks has, its not a surprise (but we’re not gonna lie, we were still surprised) when he busted out a completely transparent LG smartphone in Iron Man 2. It’s not just about the look either, the functionality to control his TV and unlock his house was unbelievable at the time!
